Our November’s meeting was hosted at the Texas World Speedway new Motorsports Country Club member’s lounge in College Station. The lounge, at the top level of the tower, offers a spectacular view of the speedway and the countryside. The Speedway and the surrounding real estate is owned by Vistage members. Visit TWS’s website or contact Lisa Gorzycki (979-690-2500) to find out more about the Texas World Speedway and membership in the Motorsport‘s Country Club.
The meeting began with an interactive speaker/workshop session presentation by Philippe Cesson. The session “FACEBOOK, TWITTER & THE NEXT BIG THING: A Proven Way to Make Money With Social Media and Beyond” was enlightening and caused each of us to change the way we view and use social media. Social media is here to stay and will continue to evolve. Any business that ignores social media will lose market share to current and future competitors. One other note, Philippe strongly urged each company to have a social media policy since whether allowed or not, employees will use social media.
Lunch was served in the Driver’s Lounge in the middle of the track. After the Executive Session, was completed in the afternoon, each attendee was offered the opportunity to ride/drive a race car on the road track with a professional driver. Participating in a race on the road track emphasizes to one the skill, strength, and training required of professional race car drivers.
As usual a number of member issues were processed during the Executive Session. I have been a Vistage Chair for three years and am still amazed at the “powerful insight” gained by processing an issue with the Group. Everyone has their own perception and perspective. The power of the Group is the diversity of the members’ perception and perspective. When a Group of highly intelligent people are presented with an issue, they find a solution.
December’s morning workshop presenter will be Kraig Kramers, CEO & President of Corporate Partners, Inc. The topic of the session is “MAKING KEY INDICATORS WORK.” The session begins with a Starter Set of key indicators and builds to the use of Advanced Indicators.
