The meeting began with an interactive speaker/workshop session presentation by Philippe Cesson. The session “FACEBOOK, TWITTER & THE NEXT BIG THING: A Proven Way to Make Money With Social Media and Beyond” was enlightening and caused each of us to change the way we view and use social media. Social media is here to stay and will continue to evolve. Any business that ignores social media will lose market share to current and future competitors. This session was tailored to HR professionals and how social media is used to enhance the company’s image to attract the top 10% employees. The session also covered how to use social media to learn more about prospective employees prior to interviewing the prospect. How to use LinkedIn connections was a topic that was discussed by the Group. One other note, Philippe strongly urged each company to have a social media policy since whether allowed or not, employees will use social media.
Following an excellent lunch provided by our host we began our Executive Session. During the Executive Session each member told the Group what they were gained from the morning session and what they were going to implement in their company. The Group then processed a number of issues including how to handle a long-time, ineffective employee. The options that were suggested were amazing for every issue.
The meeting ended with each member telling the Group what previous actions they had committed to complete and the status of each action. Accountability to the Group is truly a benefit to becoming a better leader.
The theme for December’s morning session is “Meaningful Purpose Leadership” by Luis Marrero of YSC. This engaging work session will share the notable financial results of uncommon meaning-based organizations and the practices that set these companies apart.
